Monthly statements of assets and liabilities are

now being voluntarily submitted to the Registrar of Co-

operative Societies by 95 credit co-operative societies

and aggregate figures are published monthly in the Banking

Statistics Bulletin.

27.

Formation of an Institute of Accountants :

The appointment of a committee to make recommenda-

tions to Government regarding the advis bility of setting

up a Palestine Institute of Accountants has been approved

in principle by Government, and preliminary discussions

regarding the constitution of and procedure to be followed

by the proposed committee are taking place.

Public Auditors:

28. A draft Companies (Amendment) Ordinance empowering

the High Commissioner to revoke a certificate issued under

section 105(4) of the Companies Ordinance by the Government

of Palestine and entitiing a person to practice as an

auditor has been forwarded to the Secretary of State for

approval.

29.

Jewish Co-operative Advisory Committee :

The Examiner of Bunks his regularly attended the

meetings of this unofficial body in an advisory capacity.

30.

Credit Banks Urdinance :

The question of the repeal of this Ordinance was

thoroughly examined. It is generally agreed that the

Ordinance does not restrict the transactions of a con-

servatively managed credit bank while it confers some

minor
